About

When the internet started to become a bigger part of everyone's life I noticed that quite a few of the people out there interested in the likes of John Martyn were guitarists (both my contemporaries and a lot younger) and keen to work out some of his tunings and songs. So in 1999, having then been a fan of his for 30 years, I set up The John Martyn Guitar Freaks Forum. Although a bit neglected for some time, both in terms of content and search engine optimisation, this site has attracted a fair bit of interest over the past 10 years and underlined the demand for this type of community; apart from sites and forums like this and YouTube-like communities there is nowhere else you can find such information (forget about some of the so-called transcriptions in published song books).

With that in mind, I have set up this blog for all of us interested in acoustic guitar tabs and fingerstyle guitar playing techniques of well-known artists like Bert Jansch, John Renbourne, John Martyn, Nick Drake, Nic Jones and others, as well as our own. Any suggestions or discussion on open tunings, links to our own videos, record reviews etc is welcome. In time we should end up with a worthwhile collection of free acoustic guitar lessons and articles.

All the best

Willie
